The ROH Ring may be over and done, but BBC 3 has some of its Wagner-related talking head things archived here and here.
Arkiv has a storewide sale on in honor of its 10th anniversary. We remember when they were just a glint in a one-stop's eye. Now they are a testament to how organizing a lot of information well gains you the customership that keeps you in business.
Smithsonian Folkways is having a vinyl sale, which, if you're a real hipster, is the only way you'd want your Roscoe Holcomb.
NYT reports that you can put your arcane reading skills to work in the service of history, meteorology, and climate science by helping transcribe ships' logs from the days of Franklin.
Now off to the Rensselaerswijk hinterlands to see the fabulous Jez Lowe...
.. with Bad Pennies?
ReplyDeleteI've just found the concert he gave there in 2008 ( with Andy May ) on YT
No Bad Pennies for us these days, unfortunately. He said it's too expensive to tour a band in the US now, plus the work visa process is nightmarish. He was too polite to use the words "fascist" or "extortion", but I would have.
DeleteOoh, send a link?
I have not sent a link because I misread the venue although the geographical area seems about right.
DeleteStay safe!
Ah, if it's the Old Songs one, that is indeed the place.
DeleteMan, I remember Arkiv's early days - 2002? 2003? (is that years and years ago? I think it is). But I need to stay away from that sale page.
ReplyDeleteWhat? 2002 was like a week and a half ago. "Years and years" = Grandad's shaded dogs and ffrr. I suspect the version of "years and years" you're talking about is a concept you young people have invented under the influence of the intertubes. Or just to compensate for the fact that your parents all like the same music you do. Which I grant you must suck sometimes.
DeleteZing!
DeleteYeah, it probably is the work of the intertubes.
Nah, I'm just kidding. It's working in the Borg Cube, it messes up my sense of time.
