Not that there aren't plenty of other things for New Yorkers to focus on right now, but here's the press release for BAM's Spring schedule, which includes Gregory Doran's African Julius Caesar with the RSC,
and Les Arts Florissants' production of David et Jonathas, which you might have seen making the rounds of the interwebs via Aix. I'd post a video link, but arte has tightened up its geoblocking.
update: However, they haven't yet blocked this production of the Philip Glass chamber opera In the Penal Colony, last seen in a tiny theater on 13th St.; or, hey, Anja Harteros doing the Vier Letzte Lieder from Salle Pleyel.
update: Mark, silent king, the moral of this sport...
I'll take the Salle Pleyel please - in spite of the dangly earrings and the golden flute.
ReplyDeleteshiny sparkly!
DeleteThat's the best set of those I've heard in awhile though the tempos were a little fast (read reasonable) at times.
The BBC broadcast that JC. It's extremely good.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly an interesting concept. Now if only BAM follows it up with the Harriet Walter one...
