It's a pretty excellent thing, as Jordan Hall, being mostly wood, loves anything involving gut strings.
It would be an even more excellent thing were I actually going. :-) I like their productions, although many in our part of the blogosphere would find the manifesto tediously reactionary.
i wasn't complaining at all, in fact i was happy to see you reminding me 3x :-) (as well as the many other ref of bemf) . after seeing this clip, am very tempted.... there's still a performance tomorrow (today) afternoon.... may be i should come clean, it might have been after seeing such loooovely mezzo singing orfeo in gluck's version that am unconsciously making excuse to "avoid" the tenor version :-D , though those looong period instruments are sooo tempting.. (-td, singing in as anonymous to avoid blogspot potentially trashing comment).
lol Glad to be of service then :-) I understand your hesitation about a tenor orfeo so soon after a mezzo one (though Aaron Sheehan's reaally good). If it helps, they'll probably do this again at the Festival in June.
And yeah, a theorbo will get me in the door every time:-)
the whole point is moot after i woke up at 4pm :-D . but i should make an effort eventually, since they're right here and i've never made it to a single performance by bemf... -td
Is that A Good Thing?
