sundry items

It's been a few days of snow, dodgy connections, and tech-wrestling, but good to know the old G4 still works...more or less...for the moment.

The schedule of official events for Boston Early Music Festival is posted, and includes the usual suspects plus Newberry Consort, the Hilliard Ensemble, Atalante, Hesperion XXI, plus Handel's Almira and the Charpentier chamber opera double bill of  La Descente d’Orphée aux Enfers and La Couronne de Fleurs.  Note that the following weekend Almira moves across the state to the Mahaiwe Theater in Great Barrington, a venue that totally hearts baroque opera.

Bayerische Staatsoper has Rigoletto live-streaming tomorrow, 12/30, at noon ET, with Franco Vassallo, Patricia Petibon, and Joseph Calleja. They don't archive, so seize your chance. It's new and apeless.

The Met celebrates New Year's Eve with the opening of the new Maria Stuarda and live streamed to the Masses (audio only) here at 6:30 ET.

The Guardian has Glyndebourne's 2007 Tristan & Isolde, with Nina Stemme and Robert Gambill, up until January 6.

G4 works, but is frustratingly gerbil powered, so if I don't get back in the 'sphere before year's end, have a fun and safe etc.

    1. The vaio is hamster powered, but it seems they're on walkout -- something about my looking at pictures of owls creating a hostile work environment? I pretend to have no idea what they're talking about.
