Boston Early Music Festival has sent out a casting update for its production of Handel's Almira, which opens in a little over three weeks. Veronica Cangemi is out "due to complications with her visa", so Ulrike Hofbauer gets a field promotion to the title role.

DeleteAlmira of course :-), then Emma Kirkby, bemf orchestra + dancers on frid night, and charpentier's opera. i also want to attend Emma Kirkby's masterclass tomorrow but not sure about timing... then there are also a bunch of stuff at ELEVEN pm (!!) that my colleague wants to see... not sure how productive i can be next week. Thank you for your posts though.. not sure why i never get around to this, but now is a good time to start exploring...
DeleteAh, the Kirkby thing should be great - I'd have gone to that one if I could get there in time. My agenda is Atalante (Thursday night's 11pm show :-), then looks like all day/all night Saturday at Jordan Hall -- Hesperion XXI, hopefully Charpentier, Hilliard Ensemble, Tragicomedia. (We'll see if I last that long.) Then Almira on Sunday. So I guess Friday will be my day for fringe stuff and petting zoo. Fair warning: they have a nicely stocked cd store at the petting zoo.

Deletewe should hook up sat night then! i'll be at jordan hall too. hopefully the weather would be less foul. they seem to have LOADS of goodies and nice small show!! now i remember why i havn't been involved with this: am always on travel or on way to meeting or someting... This week is quite under time constraint due to promised conference in europe in 3 wks that i'm frantically trying to get results for, hence so little time to explore, argh.
