Alex Ross has a rather excellent profile of Joyce DiDonato in the October 7 issue of The New Yorker -- unfortunately they've stuck it behind the paywall. But, among other admirable features, it has the best description of Santa Fe Opera to date: "From afar, it resembles a satellite dish receiving operatic signals from deep space." This being New Mexico, who's to say it isn't? (And consider the implications / possibilities, BSG people!)
Addendum: Oh, hey, look, a SiriusXM schedule of Met livestreams for the whole season! Now we can plan for exactly how little we will accomplish over the next six months.
Obviously Santa Fe is where the premiere of the BSG opera will be staged.
ReplyDeleteI should hope so! And by now I figure Harry Bicket must be dying to do stuff involving cyborg armies and huge explosions.
