i was gonna brag about my windchill until i saw your windchill.. but -50F is a bit far, i was in it once on a crazy hiking trip up mt wash in new hampshire, every single thing froze with icicles hanging off my jackets and pants (td)
Yeah, Mt Washington is serious business. My brother once had to help get off the mountain some hypothermic guy who'd gone up there in shorts in the middle of July.
I doubt it will get down as far as predicted here. And it looks like our friends in Toronto have it way worse than we do at the moment. -9F for a high today! Yikes!
I haven't been up in the Whites in winter but I have seen pix. There's one of a hillside of snow, and you can only tell there's a hut underneath all that bc someone excavated a window. You're way braver than I am! lol
By the way, Dr T, I'm on p 47 of the VK book, so feel free to send along more pages. I just learned a lot about epidemiology in the opera world -- that part was nicely vocabulary-stretching :-)
ps- last dec when i saw you i should have just given you the book!! that would have been more productive! (but of course you'd have to sign me a deposit to promise not to keep my precious VK autograph :p ) (td-)
I wouldn't want to be responsible for such a sacred relic :-) Send me five or ten pages as you have time, then maybe we can borrow AK's scanner and do the rest at Agrippina time.
Is this your normal winter?
ReplyDeleteYeah, pretty much :-)
DeleteThough I grant the -50F windchill they're threatening for Sunday night is a little extreme. We're not supposed to be colder than Minneapolis.

"It was so cold Sunday morning that one of the Toronto island ferries got stuck in the ice and had to be freed by a Toronto Fire icebreaker."
Deletewe have no right bragging!
