mmmm, tasty shoes

Your random #tbt Don Carlos trailer for the week, courtesy of Schauspielhaus Graz

Why we totally want to get in the Wayback Machine and go see this:

Elisabeth and Posa moving past the Nicely Domestic Mutual Esteem thing and into Things You Can't Do in the Opera Because They Cut Those Scenes territory.

Carl's Gryffindor scarf. My dark intertextual heart is laughing its suffix off.

  1. In contemporary clothes! Can you find out more about the setting? Is it just any old family? (That Harry Potter scarf is...odd...)

    1. I think we'd be pretty hard-pressed to find period costume Schiller these days, anywhere but in the English speaking theater. The reviews aren't terribly revealing about the concept -- it may be that there really wasn't one beyond transforming a blingy early modern imperial court setting into more quotidian 1%dom.

I submit that the Harry Potter scarf is absolutely perfect LOL But then I'm the one who thinks the Michael Hanneke Cosi is the definitive one, so fwiw.

      Some more production stills here.
