Broadcasts of the Monteverdi operas from last June's Boston Early Music Festival take up WCRB's Sunday Night Opera program for three Sundays in September, schedule as follows:
September 13: Orfeo
September 20: Ulisse
September 27: Poppea
I'm guessing those will be about 8pm ET. WCRB's livestream is accessible here.
hurrah, another chance to hear Ulisse and ... MEN? MAL? MLN? let me go google.. Mary-Ellen Nesi, i knew i got it right the first time, though that looks so not right :-)

DeleteYaaawwwww!!!
ReplyDeleteoh good, i haven't missed this yet :).
ReplyDeleteand you know what i realized: this year the proposal deadline is *before* juditha triumphans, so no risk missing like last year :) :) :)
Yeah, I somehow have to manage not to flake on all these things. Perhaps a tattoo in the shape of a calendar...
Deletejust got my tix for juditha!! right on time goldstar offered 50% off too, so snatched good balcony (i hope).. 2 friends from work so far will also join, along w/ hopefully hausmate and a few more friends who might decide later :-)
DeleteAwesome! AK (if she comes) and I are downstairs on the left, if memory serves.
DeleteWe have two or three BEMF things coming up as well, I think starting with Solamente Naturali.
Deletei think if you mean one coming up 2/oct i will miss.. got whisked away for kid's duty (not my kid!) , though right in middle of proposal cycle... so happy juditha is after!! what are other things?
DeleteNah, Solamente's the one on 10/16 I think. (10/2 is Emma Kirkby, I'm missing that one too.) Then the Envoy is coming over for Acis & G on 11/29. Those are the definite ones, with ASvO also a possibility.
Deleteack, i just replied but blogspot ate it!
Deletehow was the concert on 16th? (i back from the dead, done w/ proposal for rest of the year! hoorah!) shall i see you in a few days for Vivaldi? you know what i'll miss that i really annoyed with: this (somebody put her on a staged version now!) that same group with her, they're performing here on 11/24 i think! when i on travel again...
Solamente was great, all Eastern European trad tunes + Telemann, three standing o's, three encores :)
DeleteI will be there for Vivaldi, barring disaster.
I just saw that Amanda Forsythe notice on Twitter, Cambridge date is the 20th and it's their CD release party. I'm guessing that will sell out in four or five seconds :) They're also down at Vassar on the 22nd, I might try to get to that one if Cambridge is beyond reach.
I think I have to post all these videos now LOL
Welcome back from Hades!
a bit unrelated.. but thanks for the link to Mahler (somewhere i can't remember now :-D) , i did listen to the entire thing .. and you know what i just heard today: superbly beautiful excerpts of Mahler's Rückert Lieder (dont know who sang, was on radio..). that's my project for today.
ReplyDeleteAs unrelated things go, that's a pretty good one. I should revisit Rückert Lieder one of these days, haven't heard it in ages.
