a stub and some miscellaneous Saturday entertainments

The Glimmerglass La Gazza Ladra production is fairly negligible, but Rachele Gilmore makes it all worthwhile. Plus it's an opportunity to hear the piece beyond the "Yeah sure we play opera" classical radio station alibi overture. Surprise! It sounds like a lot of Rossini. Not that that's a bad thing.

The Bayreuth Dutchman is live at noon ET, best audio is likely via Bucharest.

Radio Slovenia has a rebroadcast of the JDD/Grigolo/Bizic Werther from ROH at 2pm ET.

Musiq3 has a rebroadcast (audio) of Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno from Aix, with Devieilhe, Mingardo, Spyres, Fagioli, also at 2pm ET.

    1. ps- since you advertise the audio if "il trionfo", why not the video version too? it's on culturebox and not geoblocked.

    2. Yeah, I was doing those on the fly yesterday and didn't have time to go find the video link. Will amend.

And will try to get that brklassik bcast -- I have a Suffrage Project meeting at 1, so I'll have to start it early and just let it run and hope it doesn't crash while I'm out.

    4. Have mp3 and wav files on VK intact and with excess bcast trimmed off. Will stash them away on the external, should disaster strike any else's files.

    5. thanks so much Stray. it seems my copy is ok i think. those mp3 links i gave are always most handy for me because i can just "dump" the stream and go back to sleep without worrying about some program running mad on the "hot" laptop (currently having a fan just pointing at the laptop to keep it happy...)

    6. That's cool, I'm happy to provide backup, and you know I like beefy half-gig opera wavs :)

  2. that Trionfo was so slow-paced, I lost the will to live about the time Piacere picked up her purse to go somewhere. I'll probably give it another chance when on holiday but I might also forget all about that blah production...

    1. LOL No spoilers! I am in Wagner mode, so haven't gotten back to Trionfo d'Aix. The audio is languishing on my hard drive at the moment. All in good time...

    2. do you mean SM's take on Disinganno put to to sleep? :o :o coz Piacere is by your fab CT FF (and his pretty wide vibrato...) i've rewatched il trionfo now 5x !!! because of SM!! ;-)

    3. yea, Piacere is Franco in an unflattering getup :P (leaving it at that so no further spoilers). SM does have a better deal clothes-wise but she would, wouldn't she, considering her upright character. I'll pretend I didn't hear the bit about the vibrato ;-)
