LOC's production of Jimmy Lopez's Bel Canto, based on the novel by Ann Patchett, about a South American hostage crisis that starts at the recital of a touring American soprano. If you've read the book, you'll know the soprano's repertoire is somewhat unlikely, and that it all ends in tears.

  1. i always thought it was funny that the book soprano not only has an unlikely rep, but also that supposedly the soprano is based on Renee Fleming who doesn't really sing that rep!

    1. the beauty of fiction ;-) except when you know enough for it to start bothering you. I have more of an issue with the premise of the book than with any operatic technicalities.
