Last spring's Boston Baroque Agrippina, with Susanna Phillips, David Hansen, Amanda Forsythe, et al., will be broadcast (audio only) on WCRB this Sunday, Feb 7, at 7pm ET.
that ACA one was from Paris in 2004, the same year she sang Nerone also in Paris. That channel with the entire playlist just got wiped out.. but i have all the clips :D , am holding fingers someday there'll be an upload of the entire TV broadcast.. someone already did with the 2000 version from Brussel but she was significantly better in Paris i found (same with everyone).
As for this one, am still listening.. and still holding my same opinion about the soothing orchestra.. From a listening point of view, it'd be hard to introduce a newbie to Händel listening to this unless you either have seen live or know the work very well and can follow.. because the pace, the dynamics, everything.. is taking the backseat to (unfairly-compared) R.Jacobs' :D
i done listening to the end, they're stashing it for "relisten anytime you'd like" :-) .. i now pondering pulling out either Brussel 2000 or Paris 2004 Agrippina to listen to next (oof, look at the time.. better get going.., hope you had a pleasant nap and enjoying catching 2nd+3rd acts :D )
quite looking forward! you know also A.Hallenberg will be live on radio on Sat? Vivaldi Utica or something.. from Amsterdam
ReplyDeleteCatone in Utica, great! I need a better one of those than I have :)
Deleteif you're currently listening.. this hammock-rocking-soothing version is quite a contrast to D.Visse's version (with ACA :D )
ReplyDeleteHa! I hope they archive this because I was just totally caught napping.
DeleteWhere's that ACA one from? Now that all my Agrippina's are assembling in one place, I'll be able to listen to them all in a row mwahahahahaaaaa...

Yes, it's very *nice* :P They really needed to have their videocast deal together for this. Oh well.
